We have acquired the startup and its app, “Wendoapp.” Currently, orders are being placed through the app at 400 locations in Latvia; this summer, we launched operations in Estonia, and we are also exploring opportunities to expand into other export markets.
“In a short time, ‘Wendoapp’ has changed the way restaurants, cafes, and other food service providers order products—suppliers and orders are combined into a single, easy-to-use app. We see this as a new and promising solution, and our team is currently improving the app’s functionality and design—it will become more user-friendly and attract a wider user base not only in Latvia but also elsewhere in the world,” says Edžus Žeiris, director of “ZZ Dats.”
Raivis Feldmanis, Export Product Manager at “ZZ Dats,” previously managed one of Latvia’s well-known catering companies. In his daily work, closely collaborating with suppliers and employees, he concluded that managing information about products and suppliers on paper is inefficient and inconvenient. Order lists involving up to 30 suppliers and more than 1,000 SKUs, which then need to be passed on to colleagues, are time-consuming and create a risk of errors. This experience inspired the creation and development of "Wendoapp"—a digital solution for the HoReCa sector. The platform allows food service businesses to easily manage and place orders—both from the general product range and by adding their own current suppliers. Despite its short operating history—less than two years—the app has significantly improved product management and the convenience of ordering in Latvia.
Now, with this new status, there is an opportunity to develop “Wendoapp” even more rapidly, enter the international market, and create other useful solutions, Feldmanis is convinced.
The “Wendoapp” ordering app is used by the fuel retailer “Kool Latvija,” the bakery and retail chain “Lāči,” the restaurant chain “Vairāk saules,” the sports club chain “MyFitness,” and others.
“We can quickly and easily order various goods for all 14 of our sports clubs in Riga through the app. Before, we had to write or call different suppliers; now, all we have to do is select the required quantity in the app, and the order is ready! These orders are placed by the sports club managers; each has their own user profile with a specific selection—beverages, various snacks. We’re glad that our colleagues in Estonia have also adopted our approach,” says Leontīne Sloka, manager of the “MyFitness Galleria Riga” sports club.
“In the past, each restaurant ordered goods at its own discretion; sometimes you could call the supplier, sometimes you couldn’t, and product prices varied. We appreciate that the app helped streamline this purchasing system—now orders are placed with specific suppliers, and products have a fixed, uniform price. Employees can’t make mistakes, and orders can be placed at any time, from anywhere—all you have to do is check the box!” says Daira Mikalkeviča, a commercial employee in the restaurant services department of the “Vairāk saules” restaurant chain.
