Dativa introduces Latvia’s first digital wallet “Digimaks”

The “Digimaks” mobile application, developed by IT company Dativa, demonstrates a forward-looking approach to digital identity management. It is fully compliant with European Union (EU) standards and is available for free download on both Google Play and the App Store. Dativa employees are the first to actively use the app, leveraging it for secure access to internal enterprise systems via two-factor authentication. In the near future, more than 35,000 municipal employees will also use “Digimaks” as an authentication tool for the IS Visvaris system.

“The essence of any digital identity wallet is to make everyday life easier by eliminating the need to carry physical documents, certificates, and membership cards. We will continue to develop the technological direction of Digimaks, introducing additional functional solutions for both private and public sector users,” says Edžus Žeiris, Director of Dativa.

He adds that upcoming features may include personalized employee ID cards and high-security physical access authorization solutions, replacing traditional plastic identification cards and increasing security in both digital and physical environments. The potential use cases are extensive, including student IDs, large family cards, the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), and more. Any institution issuing certificates, rights, or identification documents could integrate them into the Digimaks ecosystem.

Dativa’s unified authentication solution “Dorvis” already supports leading authentication methods in Latvia, including “eParaksts,” “Smart-ID,” and internet banking services. “Digimaks” now adds automated customer verification capabilities. For business clients, the solution is designed in compliance with the EU eIDAS 2.0 regulation on electronic identification and trust services, ensuring legal validity across all EU member states. Beyond initial development, long-term maintenance and scalability are key priorities, enabling organizations to reduce costs while improving user experience.

An alternative to physical documents in the digital environment

For everyday users and businesses, “Digimaks” functions as an electronic personal identity card, enabling secure and controlled authentication in digital environments, electronic document signing, e-sealing, validation, and sharing. Businesses can also implement customized solutions such as digital employee cards and high-security physical access systems.

The Dativa mobile application “Digimaks” is built in line with EU digital identity wallet standards. Its core functionality includes secure storage, presentation, and sharing of user-controlled identity data and digital documents such as driving licenses, educational diplomas, and other personal certificates. This enables seamless access to services across the EU without the need for physical documents.
