Updates on Research Project No. 1.3 “Development of a New Intelligent All-Season Road Maintenance Support Information System to Improve the Efficiency of Maintenance Processes (IRoM)”

The research project is being implemented as part of the IT Competence Center project “Information and Communication Technology Competence Center for Research,” ID No. 5.1.1.2.i.0/2/24/A/CFLA/007

On January 28, 2025, the Central Finance and Contracting Agency approved the five sectoral and interdisciplinary research projects submitted by the IT Competence Center under the project “Information and Communication Technology Competence Center for Research” (Contract No. 5.1.1.2.i.0/2/24/A/CFLA/007) , of which 3 research projects are being implemented in the scientific field “Business Process Analysis Technologies,” while 2 research projects are in the scientific field “Natural Language Technologies.”

The objective of the project “Information and Communication Technology Competence Center for Research” is to increase the volume of private research and development investment in the field of information and communication technologies by at least 2.4 million by making targeted public investments in at least 8 research projects in the field of information and communication technologies to facilitate the development of at least 8 new products and services, as well as knowledge transfer in the field of information and communication technologies.

SIA “ZZ Dats” research project “Development of a New Intelligent All-Season Road Maintenance Support Information System to Improve Maintenance Process Efficiency (IRoM)” was launched in January 2025.

The project’s goal is to develop a comprehensive solution applicable to all-season road maintenance management processes in the form of an open, modular, and intelligent platform that, using integrated machine learning models and an ERP module, would provide road maintenance operators with proactive decision-making and data-driven resource utilization insights. The developed solution will minimize response times for optimal road maintenance operations, thereby promoting safe driving conditions for road users and optimizing the use of maintenance resources throughout the season.

Currently, the research project has initiated and is continuing industrial research activities titled “Definition of Solution Requirements and Architecture Development” and “Development of Analytical and Machine Learning Models.”

Research project implementation period: January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2026.

Total cost of the research project – 613,490.00 EUR

Recovery Fund co-financing – 399,992.50 EUR

The project is co-financed by the Recovery Fund under the Operational Program “Latvia’s Recovery and Resilience Facility Plan,” Reform and Investment Priority 5.1 “Increasing Productivity through Increased Investment in R&D,” Sub-priority 5.1.1. “Innovation Management and Incentives for Private R&D Investment,” sub-measure 5.1.1.2.i. “Support Instrument for Research and Internationalization,” under the implementation rules for the second round.
